One postcode, four kinds of building

Conversion terraces, mansion blocks, estate housing and the larger Edwardian houses that were never divided. Each behaves differently, and the difference shows up in the quote rather than in the brochure.

Putney town and the High Street SW15 Flats above shops Flats over the parade and the newer blocks behind it. A shared entrance off a busy street, a short stopping window, and frequently a staircase that serves four addresses at once.

West Putney and the Lower Richmond Road SW15 Victorian conversions The densest conversion stock in the postcode. Terraces divided into three or four flats, controlled parking throughout, and the carrying distance from door to vehicle doing most of the work.

Putney Heath and the Upper Richmond Road SW15 Mansion blocks Purpose-built blocks with lifts, porters and managing agents. Straightforward once the permissions are in place and slow when they are not.

Roehampton SW15 Estates and newer flats Postwar estate housing and newer developments, with better vehicle access than the conversion streets and longer carrying distances inside the estates themselves.

East Putney and Southfields edge SW15 / SW18 Edwardian terraces Larger Edwardian houses, more of them still whole rather than divided, and more drives than anywhere else in the postcode. The quickest surveys we do here.

Barnes, Wandsworth and Fulham borders SW13 / SW18 / SW6 Neighbours Crossed constantly and served, but each has established local firms. A job that begins and ends inside one of them usually belongs there rather than with us.

The conversion streets

West Putney and the roads running off the Lower Richmond Road hold the densest conversion stock in the postcode — terraces divided into three or four flats, each sharing a front door and a staircase.

Controlled parking covers effectively all of it, and the bays outside a divided house serve several households at once. The carrying distance from the nearest legal standing to the front door is usually the largest single variable in the job.

The town centre

Flats above the parade and newer blocks behind it. A shared entrance opening onto a busy street, a short stopping window, and frequently a staircase serving four addresses. These jobs are planned around the stopping time rather than the volume.

Blocks on and around the Heath

Purpose-built mansion blocks with lifts, porters and managing agents. A different discipline entirely: measure the lift door, book a realistic window, check the permitted hours. Straightforward once those three are settled.

Roehampton and the eastern streets

Roehampton brings postwar estates and newer developments with better vehicle access and longer internal carries. East Putney has larger Edwardian houses, more of them still whole, and more drives than anywhere else in SW15 — the quickest surveys we do here.

01 Do you cover Roehampton?

Yes, and it is the easier half of the postcode for vehicle access — estate roads with room to work rather than conversion terraces with none. The trade is longer carrying distances once you are inside an estate.

02 Which part of SW15 is hardest?

The conversion streets off the Lower Richmond Road, comfortably. Highest density of divided houses, controlled parking throughout, and the nearest legal standing frequently not outside the door.

03 Do you cover Barnes, Wandsworth and Fulham?

We cross all three constantly and will serve them, but each has established local firms and a job that begins and ends inside one is usually better placed there. We will say so rather than take it.

04 Are the mansion blocks treated differently?
